Hello! I’m Vicky or Victoria and I am the face behind Hummingbird by Victoria. I’m a mum of non-identical twin girls, Evelyn and Emilia (who were born at 35 weeks 1 day and will be 3 in January) and their 5 year old brother William.
I started Hummingbird when the girls were a year old, mad I know as I definitely had enough on my plate, but I haven't regretted it once. This is my first ever attempt at writing a blog, so please bear with me, it might not be as good as it is in my head!!
I wanted to start a blog not only let you inside the world of Hummingbird, but also to hopefully help anyone out there who may be able to relate to any of the things I talk about.
Being a mum of 3 is great - if not slightly challenging! I’ve found twin girls can be incredibly possessive when it comes to food, toys, cats, sand, mud… just about anything. Throw a 5 year old boy in the mix, and most days can end up like 5 rounds at UFC! Over these past three years, I’ve definitely felt my inner Lynette Scavo come out… before the college admissions scandal…
When I found out I was pregnant with twins, my first thought was “shit… we need to move house!” (we had literally moved to what we thought would be our forever home 6 months previously). My second thought was “this is going to be great… better even! They’ll always amuse each other”. OH. MY. GOODNESS!! How wrong was I!?
As a family we all LOVE Disney and earlier in the year we were lucky enough to visit Disney World Florida - I’ll probably do a post about this later. We also love to cook and bake, as well as lots of arts and crafts. If you would like to see what we get up to make sure you check out our Instagram.
Over the past year, Hummingbird has blown up way more than I ever expected, and I’m always thinking of new ways to make improvements. When I first set up, I was working out of my dining room (which doubled up as a playroom) so space was limited. I’ve now expanded into a garden shed, all of my very own, and the kids finally have their playroom back! I’ve also recently started working with my brother, fingers crossed we aren’t like the twins!
I love what I do and I’m so grateful to everyone who has supported me to where I am today.
I hope I haven’t bored everyone too much. If not, there will be lots more to come, we’ll take the rough with the smooth - together.
